Library Interface
The InTouch library interface allows open fines created in the library system to be uploaded into InTouch Receipting saving data reentry and allowing parents and students to use InTouch Receipting and TouchBase to remit payments on open fines. InTouch Receipting will provide a payment file in return to the library system for fines either paid or cleared through InTouch Receipting and/or TouchBase. Improved customer service, revenue collection improvement and streamlined staff operations are all direct benefits of the library interface.
The library interface is a two-way communication between the library system and InTouch Receipting. The objective is to:
eliminate dual entry of library fines – at the library and at the bookkeeper
expedite the collection of library fines or book return
accurately reflect current fine status in both systems
improve customer service to the parent
pull in the on line reporting and payments available through TouchBase
open InTouch receipting to other similar interfaces such as book tracking and other mass interfaces
General Operations and Business Rules
The library interface will be a batch process model, that is, once daily or when manually launched the two systems will communicate with each other and update accordingly. Batch process is different than real-time as there could be an instance where a transaction has been recorded by one system not recognized to the other. Depending upon the library system, there could be more than a once-a-day processing, but for sake of ease in this discussion, once a day (during non school hours) is assumed.
